Dr. Grunberger is an experienced diabetologist who brings more than 25 years’ experience

reviews articles and federal grant applications and is regularly approached by industry
to review and then conduct research proposals; he is presently performing multiple
clinical trials for the industry. The first 6 years of Dr. Grunberger’s career were
completed in Bethesda, MD, at the Diabetes Branch, National Institute of Arthritis,
Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health. Dr. Grunberger’s
research interests span the spectrum of subjects related to diabetes and its complications

Dr. Yoder is the St. John Health vice president of research and academic affairs.
Prior to this role he held several leadership positions including Medical Director
of Medicine, Residency Programs Director and Wayne State University Internal Medicine
Program Director. Dr Yoder is a leading teacher, key thought leader and researcher
who served the South East Michigan community health care for more than 30 years.

research interests focus primarily on evaluation (reliable and valid methodology)

Mr. Rashed brings extensive experience in operations, financial and asset management

holders in the industry. During his career, Max assisted in managing of operations
that had annual budgets that exceeded $8 billion. His experience background includes

David M. Svinarich, Ph.D. Associate Chairman, IRB
St. John Health System Cardiovascular Research Network and the director of patient
care research at Providence hospital. He acquired in 1989 a PhD in Microbiology
and Immunology from the School of Medicine at Wayne State University; in 1984 a
Masters degree in Biology from Wayne State University and in 1983, a Bachelor degree
in Microbiology from the University of Michigan. Dr Svinarich was appointed to several
faculty positions including senior scientist at the NIH, Assistant Professor, Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Immunology
and Microbiology, Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, at Wayne State University
School of Medicine. Dr. Svinarich is Controlled Substance Licensed in the State

Jaswinder Grewal-Karwa, Ph.D, Director, Oncology Clinical Trials & Research
Dr Grewal-Karwa is responsible on the clinical trials and research of Oncology and
support other therapeutic areas at limited capacity. She brings to the Center more
than 13 years of experience in clinical research. She Developed oncology research
consortium within the various hospitals in St. John Health and created policies
and procedures for conducting trials via St. John Research Consortium. Her experience
range from managing several clinical trials and overseeing daily operation to the
overall strategic planning for the center. She assisted in setting the GCP-ICH standards
and lead Data management requirements for clinical research. Dr. Grewal-Karwa acquired
her BS in Biology and Chemistry in 1984 and her PhD in Biochemistry in 1991.

Peter LeWitt, MD, Central Nervous Systems Clinical Research Director
Dr. LeWitt is an acknowledged thought leader/researcher in Neurology and Movement
Disorders, and has numerous contacts globally with investigators performing leading
edge research. Dr. LeWitt serves as a consultant/investigator to many U.S. and international
pharmaceutical firms in drug development and clinical trials related to neurological
disorders. Dr. LeWitt is president of the International Essential Tremor Foundation
and the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, and has directed the National Parkinson Foundation’s

Dr. Welch, MD, FACOG, is Providence's Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr.
Welch is also Section Chief and Program Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology
Department at Providence Hospital. His area of special expertise is Maternal-Fetal
Medicine which includes management of high-risk pregnancy. A graduate of the Louisiana
State University School of Medicine, Dr. Welch completed his internship and residency
in OB/GYN and his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Wayne State University
Affiliated Hospitals. He also has done a faculty fellowship at Wayne State University.

Thomas Lalonde, MD, Cardiology Clinical Research Director
Dr. LaLonde is a cardiologist specializing in clinical, invasive and interventional
cardiology. He currently serves as medical director of the cardiac catheterization
lab and director of the interventional cardiology training program at St. John Hospital
and Medical Center in Detroit. Dr. LaLonde has completed special training to be
certified in several interventional procedures such as: directional coronary atherectomy;
